IRS Life events - change your benefits
If any of the following has occurred, the IRS considers this a life event and allows you to make changes to your benefits. This is not an exhaustive list.
- birth/adoption of a child
- adding/dropping a dependent because they lost/gained insurance coverage elsewhere
- divorce/separation
- marriage
- employee FTE has decreased/increased
- spouse has gained/loss of job
To enter a qualifying event, you can go to "Benefits"-"Qualifying Events"-"Add Qualifying Event"
On the pop up page, enter the event date and event type and upload acceptable documents. When you are done, click "Add Qualifying Event".
Once your event is approved, you can go to "Benefits"-"2024 Benefits Enrollment" to add benefits. Make sure to click "Enroll" and "Finalize" button to complete your enrollment. **Please note that you have 30 days from the event date to submit your qualifying event and finalize any benefit changes.
